Know The Game

Play For Fun

Wagering should be an enjoyable recreational experience and not seen as a means for making money.

Understand How It Works

Take the time to read about how to play, know the Betting Rules and payouts. We provide information on each of our gambling products in-store and online.

Do Not Chase Losses

Attempting to win back what you have lost is not a viable strategy.

Set A Financial Budget

Work out how much of your income you feel is okay to gamble and stick with it. Only gamble with money you feel you can afford to lose. Utilise a Gambling Calculator to have an overview of how much you spend on gambling.

Manage Your Account

Our TAB Account Management Tools can help you set a Weekly Deposit Limit and a Maximum Bet Limit on your account.

Take Breaks

Step away from the screen, the counter or the track. If you need to have a break from online gambling you can Take a Break.

Monitor Your Intoxication

TAB is committed to ensuring customers gamble responsibly and make informed decisions. It is against our Terms and Conditions for a customer to gamble while they are intoxicated. Consider bringing a responsible friend, setting phone reminders or taking advantage of our account tools if you feel you’re likely to gamble too much when drinking or under the influence of other drugs. Licensees are not knowingly able to permit customers to gamble while they’re intoxicated from alcohol or under the influence of other drugs.

Balance Gambling with Other Leisure Activities

Think about other ways you can spend your time such as spending time with family or friends, playing sport, keeping fit, studying or starting a hobby.

Not a Dollar More

The ‘Not a Dollar More’ podcast series is for people who are worried about their gambling or who want to know more about gambling harm.

Hosted by Shayne Rodgers, who has a personal experience of gambling harm from sports betting, the podcast series explores the depths of gambling harm through the eyes of people who have lived through it. It aims to inspire people to make the changes they need.

The podcasts have been produced by the Peer Connection team at Banyule Community Health in partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s Prevention Partnership Program. You can listen to the podcast here.

National Consumer Protection Framework (NCPF)

Tabcorp supports the NCPF launched by Federal, State and Territory Governments, to provide stronger consumer protection for Australian gambling online. The NCPF requires all online wagering customers to opt in or out of setting a Deposit Limit from 26 May 2019. More information can be found in TAB Tools.

Protecting Minors

TAB services and products are only for people 18+ years old. Minors are not permitted to gamble.  We do not allow minors to open an account or to place a bet through our online platforms or retail outlets. We reserve the right to ask for additional information to verify age and may restrict or suspend accounts until a customer's age is confirmed. TAB will report minors gambling to the relevant authorities. It is a parent's responsibility to ensure that their account is not accessed by their children or other minors.

Below are some tips for parents and guardians on how to help protect minors at home:

  • Keep your username and password details out of reach, and where applicable avoid auto-fill of login details on shared family devices.
  • Always ensure you log out of your TAB account to prevent access.
  • Install parental control software which allows you to control and block access to gambling websites both on desktop and mobile devices. Visit BetBlocker which is a free app that allows you to block online gambling websites. Additionally, you could use paid versions including NetNanny, GamBlock, or GamBan.
  • Educate your children about the legality and potential damage of underage gambling.
  • Limit the amount of time your children spend online.

For further information visit the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation website.

Helping Others

Gambling can affect not only gamblers but also the people around them. To assess if someone you know may have a gambling problem and what tools may be used to manage that behaviour refer to TAB Tools.

Talking to someone close to you about their gambling, especially if they do not think they have a problem, can be very hard. Contact the Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 to get assistance with starting those difficult conversations and putting together an action plan. For more information and resources visit Gambling Help Online.

TAB Agencies and Licensed Venues

Our Venue and Agency Staff are provided training to monitor the EBT and Self Service Terminals and to assist customers where they may be in need. This includes providing resources and referral services or answering questions about Self-Exclusion Programs as well as pre-commitment decisions. We encourage all retail customers to set a time and money limit by making a plan, setting a budget, and sticking to it. We also have posters and brochures in venues with tips and tricks on how to stay in control of your gambling.

If you have any questions while you are in one of our Venues do not hesitate to ask.
